Meet Patsy
Patsy is a young black female cat (estimated DOB: 5/3/2023) who is a sweet little love bug with a big personality and an even bigger heart. She is playful and loves all kinds of toys, but nothing makes her happier than a hair tie—she could chase it around all day! Patsy is good at entertaining herself and does well as an only cat, and she loves to put on a show while she plays. Her foster often catches her glancing over to see if her foster is watching; she’s always ready to show off her playful moves. Patsy likes keeping an eye on the neighborhood from the window and is always curious about what’s going on outside. She’s fit, energetic, and always has an appetite. At night, she waits for her foster to go to bed first and then likes to settle down at the foot of the bed or in a chair in another room. Patsy is also vocal and will try to “sing” along with you. Patsy would likely do well in a home with a cat-friendly dog.
Patsy was rescued from a street corner with her evicted owner. It was soon apparent she was expecting, so she was made comfortable while waiting for her 4 babies. When she was taken for her spay, it was discovered she was FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus) positive. She must have been infected just before rescue, because she tested negative at that time. In addition, she did not pass the retrovirus onto 3 out of 4 fetuses while pregnant.
FELV is an autoimmune disorder that cats can either live with their whole lives with no issue, or can get sick much more easily than a negative cat who is exposed to the same virus/bacteria. Sometimes they fight it off, sometimes they never fight it off but never get sick, sometimes they get super sick and won’t recover so they have to be euthanized. Patsy is on the smaller side, but no way to know if that has anything to do with any illness. Currently, she’s happy, healthy, and friendly.
Due to her preference of people over other cats, Patsy needs to be adopted as an only cat.
