Meet Mr. Fluffernutter
Meet Mr. Fluffernutter – affectionately called Floof. He is a long-haired brown tabby born approximately 2/21/2024.
Floof’s foster calls him a Stage 5 clinger. He is a huge cuddler and loves people. He loves to be close to his human family and is always touching them. When we rescued Floof, we were unaware that an outdoor cat had attacked him. The day after he was placed in foster care, his foster family found him bleeding from bite wounds that had resulted in an abscess. It had burst, and he was in great distress. The foster took quick action, and he was taken to an emergency vet.
Unfortunately, Floof has tested positive for FeLV (Feline leukemia virus, a retrovirus, which is a common infection in cats.) It is extremely contagious. The most common way FeLV is spread is through aggressive behavior from an already infected cat. More than likely, that cat he received the bite wound from infected him. It is also readily spread among cats in casual close contact, which can include sharing food and water as well as mutual grooming. Therefore, FeLV-infected cats mustn’t co-exist with non-FeLV cats.
Floof is a loving boy who deserves a loving family to share his love of laser pointers, toy mice, and hanging out on laps while watching TV.
