PPAH Rescue Adoption Policy
Precious Pets Almost Home (PPAH) is a rescue group/foster home organization comprised of dedicated individuals that are joined together by their compassion and love for homeless cats and dogs. Our mission is to prevent cruelty to animals and to promote respect and compassion for all animals through education. To provide quality homes for cats and dogs through our adoption programs. To reduce euthanasia by saving pets from going to animal control and pulling pets from animal control when resources permit. To provide shelter and care for homeless and unwanted animals, reduce pet overpopulation through spay/neuter and TNR (Trap Neuter Return) of feral cats, and reunite lost animals with their owners.
We are an all-volunteer organization. We do not receive any federal, state or city funding. All of our support comes from concerned and involved individuals that share our compassion and love for homeless cats and dogs. Precious Pets Almost Home Association is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
PPAH charges a fee of $150 for each animal adopted from our foster care. This fee covers a portion of our expenses in rescuing, covering initial health exams, spaying or neutering, deworming medication, flea/tick treatment (if needed) and vaccinations of all animals in our care while they wait for their forever home.
If you cannot afford to pay the $150 adoption fee, you may be eligible for one of the options below
Consider Fostering – Fostering is a great opportunity for someone who has an extra room in their home or who is unable to have a permanent companion animal of their own; or unable to afford the care of having an animal in their home. If you are not in a position to take on the long-term financial responsibility of adopting a cat or dog, but are interested in sharing your home and love with a homeless pet in the short term, you can become a foster parent for PPAH. To do so, please complete and submit the foster application found on PPAH website. www.ppahrescue.org.
After speaking with our foster coordinator and determining that fostering for PPAH is indeed right for you, you will get matched with a pet in need. PPAH can provide all necessary food and supplies. PPAH coordinates and pays for all vetting for the pets in our care. We do ask that our foster homes provide transportation if possible as needed to ensure that their foster pet gets all of the preventative and continuing care that they need to be healthy and adoptable. If you are unable to provide transportation for the animal in your foster care, arrangements will be made to do so for you.
Foster to Adopt Program – If an applicant is approved for adoption through our regular screening process, they may qualify for our Foster to Adopt Program which allows you to take the animal home and begin providing care and well-being. If Foster to Adopt Program application is approved by the PPAH Board Members, six monthly payments of $25 each would be arranged to be made on a specific date of each month that both the applicant and PPAH mutually-agree upon. The first payment of $25 would be due at adoption signing and the five remaining payments of $25 would be auto debited each month from the account the applicant establishes.
Provision of Services: All applicants seeking adoption services at PPAH are assured that they will be given the same consideration regardless of the ability to pay. No one will automatically be refused service because of lack of financial means to pay, so long as they complete and are found eligible in the application process. To apply for this program to see if you may be eligible, please email admin@ppahrescue.org for additional information.
Notice: The Foster to Adopt Program determination will be provided to the applicant(s) in writing, and will include the schedule and bank details for the auto debit authorization, or, if applicable, the reason for denial. If the application is not approved, the applicant’s adoption application will be deemed denied.
Reasonable Barriers: PPAH cannot approve applicants who demonstrate reasonable barriers in providing adequate care and well-being to our rescued animals in our care. Reasonable barriers would include the applicant being homeless, unemployed or not collecting an Income (defined below) to pay for the food or vet care of the adopted animal. Any applicant who has a past record of animal abuse or neglect will be denied.
Sliding Scale Program – You may qualify for our sliding scale fee structure which is given to people with fewer financial resources. If eligible, the amount you pay at adoption goes by your Income. You may be eligible to pay the adoption fee over a period of time, at a percentage fee reduction or receive a complete fee waiver. Below are the guidelines to be followed to qualify for the Sliding Scale Program.
Provision of Services: All applicants seeking adoption services at PPAH are assured that they will be given the same consideration regardless of the ability to pay.
